HER Description

NEHL - A bowling & croquets green was laid out in Heaton Park in the 19th century, as it is visible on contemporary maps. There was also another bowling green as well as tennis grounds closer to the remains of King John's Palace and another on Heaton Park View. There was a Quoits Ground to the west of the pavilion in the 19th century, though this has since disappeared.
